We miss you TO people – it feels surreal at camp now
-
We are staying on track with Jan’s Place, our staff girls accommodation, installing AC in all of our cabins, reseeding areas grass doesn’t usually grow
-
We want to thank Kevin and his team who have been scrubbing grout and deep cleaning all of our cabins
-
Our seasonal team took on the upgrading of the boathouse to refresh it
-
Zech 8:5 is my fave because it gives me hope to what this place will be like again

-
The premier has extended the state of emergency until the end of June
-
That means we need to continue to build around government guidelines around what it looks like to reopen our offices
-
The TO office will remain closed in the short term
-
At the resort please continue to practice social distancing
-
One thing we’re conscious of is the public perception of what goes on at the resort
-
We will be emailing to clarify some guidelines around swimming and re: checking in and checking out of the resort for employees who don’t live at the resort
-
We want to give you a clear and accurate picture of the financial implications of COVID-19
-
We are finalizing the decisions re: layoffs as we take into consideration your benefit as an employee and also the workflow/load
-
We are not anticipating that we will open for S&G in the Fall, that decision is not final but it is based on the financial model and conversations we’ve been having with schools and groups
-
We believe that if we can have a 4 week layoff time for as many of us as possible in September it will benefit you as individuals and us as an organization
-
We are going to make a commitment to keep you updated in a timely manner
-
June 24 & 25 is our Senior Team’s annual meeting to revisit the financial model of MW and to think about the opportunities we have in this time with no guests with a specific focus on our facility and programming excellence

I want to address what is happening within the Black community in Canada as well as the USA from my seat as the CEO
-
My thoughts this morning are from Raymond Brown’s commentary on Nehemiah
-
On Monday Chris asked us as a senior team ‘how will we know when the wall is done?’
-
Yesterday Chris and I set the day to pray for Muskoka Woods and think about what kind of community we are going to build after this
-
“Nehemiah was not building a wall, he was building a people”
-
Raymond Brown tells a horrific story about missionaries in the 19th century who committed to writing letters to each other to cope with what they were dealing with
-
What was unique about this was that these two missionaries came from 2 completely different theological backgrounds/beliefs but both of them wanted to live a life that was distinctly different from the communities they were in
-
In Zech 8 we get a picture of justice for old and young
-
Pray for empathy and consider how you can come alongside our friends
-
Personally, as a former police officer, I was ashamed to watch the videos that have come out the past few days
-
This is not just a time at MW where we are just refreshing our facilities (although I am so thankful for the team who has been working so hard to make camp pristine) we’re being invited to a deeper work
-
Yesterday in my time of prayer with Chris he was inspired to ask ‘‘how do we create a place where we can stand shoulder to shoulder, face to face?”
-
God has strategically put us in this book to take us deeper
-
Yesterday we received an 8 page paper from a staff member who wrote from their experience at MW so I am taking time to meet with them to listen and learn
-
We want to identify how we can be a listening community
-
How can we be everything that God has called us to be?
-
Please email me with your questions, ideas, input, to help me to listen more clearly
-
Thank you for your incredible work in these strange and sobering times!
-
I am moving north this weekend in order to make better decisions with our team on property
